Hello,

what version of WiseFTP are you using exactly? (See "Help" -> "About")

Hello,

It seems that your webhoster is limiting the maximum amount of connections that can be made to your ftp account. When WiseFTP transfer files from or to the ftp, it opens 5 transfer connections (max) at once, to speed up the transfer. Please try to reduce this amount of simultaneous connections in the preferences at "Connection and Transfer" -> "Max. threads".

I did that, setting the "max threads" to 1. However, I am still getting the same error message "too many connections". Anything else I can do?

Hello,

please try to contact your webhoster about this, maybe they can tell you what amount of connections is allowed with your account, thanks a lot!

I finally spoke with someone who tried to help. They had me connect my computer directly to my modem, instead of through my wireless router. That did not work. They said that there should be no limit to the # of connections on my account. Could the trouble be witht he site I am trying to upload to?

Hello,

this is very strange, because the error message "421 Too many connections. Goodbye" is generated by the FTP-Server and not by WiseFTP. Is maybe someone else using your ftp account data? Was did Optimum tell you about this error message?

They told me that I should have no trouble making any connections. They mentioned that file size or file #s may affect it. However, I am only trying to upload 1 file at a time, and the file is only a text file.

Hello,

have you already tried to connect to your ftp-server using the activate mode instead of passive? You can change that in the profile of your server. (Extras -> Site manager).

This is definitively an issue with your provider, which limits your number of connections. This is an error returned by the server.

I just finished speaking with the tech. support of my internet provider and he had me try a few things, none of which worked. He assured me there are no limits on my service or my modem and that all are working fine. I do not know what else to do.

Could you please provide us with a FTP login on your ftp server? We would like to try a reproduction of this problem. Please send it by email to support@wise-ftp.com

Thanks a lot in advance!

Thank you for providing us with your FTP login data.

Unfortunately your FTP server is really limited to only ONE simultaneous connection. This is the reason why you receive this error message. WISE-FTP needs at least 2 simultaneous connections.

We can only suggest to you to write an email to the administrators of your FTP server and ask them to allow at least two simultaneous connections. This will not harm the server, but make life easier for the users.

Alternatively, we could offer you one work-around which, however, is not very convenient:

1) In the program options set the number of simultaneous threads = 1;

2) Connect to the server and switch the tab in 'Transfer progress' from Transfer List -> Queue

3) Use the transfer buttons and add all required "uploads" or "downloads" - the transfers will not start, but will be queued for later.

4) Disconnect from the server. In the Queue window select the tasks and in the popup menu click 'Activate' - all the selected tasks will become active and will work without problems.

5) When the tasks are completed connect to the server again to see the results.
