First time to site would like to know how to back up my site when the owner
has vanish and I unable to set email addresses on log on any ideas etc

do you mean that you want to make a backup of a website to which you do not have access? Why do you want to make a backup of this site?

When you have access to the website, you can just connect to the server, chose all files and directories in the right panel and download them to the local system.
