Can't instal version 3 due to Mcafee detecting inbuilt nasty
Hi
Many months ago I was able to install version 3 successfully.
I uninstalled it and now, upon trying to re-install it, I find that McAfee detects something like an inbuilt virus - I think it was labeled a generic backdoor .... (something or other). Sorry about the vagueness.
This happened to me when trying to install on my home computer and on my work computer.
Otherwise I am using version 2 which McAfee doesnt complain about.
Is anyone else having the same problem with version 3?
Cheers

Re: Can't instal version 3 due to Mcafee detecting inbuilt nasty
Here we go--
The Acebit Installation Program advises-
File error
The following error occurred on the file 'C:\program Files\AceBIT\AceBackup 3\Acebackup.exe'
The system cannot find the file specified.
(0x2)
McAfee Total Protection Service advises -
File Deleted - 0041755c.exe
Generic Backdoor!cre
Anyone understand this or know what to do about it?
Would it be safe to disable McAfee during installation or do we really have an embedded nasty?
Thx

Similar problem here. I've been using AceBackup (version 3) for about half a year now, and suddenly, today, McAfee claims to have found a "Generic Backdoor!cre", apparently in a file called 0041755c.EXE inside Acebackup.exe (whatever that means).
McAfee helpfully deleted the AceBackup executable without confirming with me, so now I'd have to reinstall the application, but I'm guessing McAfee will prevent that anyway...

After thinking about this, I have decided to do the following.
Turn off Mcafee while installing Version 3.
Keep my fingers crossed.

Well it installed OK....BUT!!!
After turning on McAfee again, it found 0041755c.exe and deleted it with the message - Artemis!A0B228AE5B2
Thereafter AceBackup Ver3 collapsed and disappeared from the screen.
Help!

I'm guessing we'll be hearing similar experiences from other people very soon -- we're hardly the only ones running a combination of AceBackup 3 and McAfee.
Now would be a good time for the good folks at Acebit to get in touch with McAfee and have them whitelist AceBackup, or at the very least figure out what's causing McAfee to perceive AceBackup as a trojan...

I have sent a request to Acebit thru their service registration process to look at this thread and comment.

Hello,
Thank you both for your feedback!
Some other customers have already informed us about this problem.
It is obviously a false positive in the MacAffee database, so we contacted them yesterday and hope that they will get rid of the problem as soon as possible.
Best regards

Hello! I really don't understand you with this antivirus. What do you find it? I don't like it and it seems to be with errors but this is your business. If you wanna listen, you better take this kaspersky Take care!:)

I have tried again to instal Acebackup3 and it worked!!
So it would seem that McAfee have done their stuff and the problem no longer exists.
Thanks to all who have contributed.
