I am so very frustrated! I am running Vista Business and I have all of my firewall, privacy, security and cookies at the recomended settings. But I still can not connect to my 1&1 server to get my content uploaded. I talked to a tech with 1&1 and from what I could understand, his English was not very good, I needed to contact the support team for the FTP client I was using, that's you. I searched through the first couple of pages in the forum but I could not find anyone with the same problem. I would really appreciate some help!

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

What version of WiseFTP are you using exactly? (See "Help" -> "About")
What address have you entered at "Server address" or "Host name"?
Are you sure your firewall is not blocking the program in any way?

Hi Mirko, thanks for responding.

I downloaded version 3.0, 3.0.0.7 from 1&1's control panel just last week.

The address is the one they, (1&1), have told me to use. That is;

s202038785.onlinehome.us

As for the firewall, I have Symantec's Norton installed but it is not activated. I am, however, using Vista's built in firewall and it shows that Wise-FTP is allowed access. Other than that, I don't know any other way to be sure it's not being blocked.

Thanks again for your help.

Hello,

please run the "Live Update" in the "File" menu to update to the most current Version of WiseFTP 3 for 1&1 customers. What version number is displayed after that in "Help" -> "About" ?
Can you maybe post the complete ftp-log (upper area of program window) of such an failed connection attempt?
Sometimes firewall products are blocking software even though they are deactivated - their service is still running in the background.

I got it to work.

Unfortunately, I had to perform a "System Recovery" on my machine this morning. The issue with this software was related to a much larger problem. I managed to spend several hours on the phone first with my ISP and then with the manufacturer of my machine, all to come to the point, "There's nothing else you can do. You'll have to run the System Recovery."

So, I did and now it works. But thank you for your help. I truly appreciate it.
