Hello. Anyone know how to connect to a router(Netgear) using WISE-FTP? I lost my password and one way to reset the factory defaults is by accessing the router through ftp. I know the address to access it through Internet Explorer, but do not know how to access it through ftp. Thank you for your help in advance!

Try using the same method as for the browser connection, but add :80 (thats a full colon eight zero). This tells the ftp software to connect to port 80 - the default port that the router should be listening on. It will probably need a username and password to make the connection though - which leaves you still stuck.

Have you tried the factory default user/password combination?

If so, try a search on Netgear's website for router reset. I may be a button you keep depressed while powering the router off and on again.

Thank you for your reply. I was able to ftp to the router from the ms-dos command prompt, but like you said you still only get to the password/login which I lost. I believe the only way to reset the settings is through the 9-pin female serial manager port. Now I just need to come up with a 9-pin male cable :? This router is older (rt314), so there is no reset button. I can get one from Radio Shack, just didn't want to put money into a router I'm dumping
