I don't recommend this program

Postby bluesand » Tue Jul 27, 2010 8:11 pm

I have tried this program but I can't recommend it due to following problems.

1) No Unicode support for filenames. This is kind of ridiculous in 2010 given that Unicode filenames are supported by NTFS filesystem for years. This program is only usable by English or German people. Any filenames which contain non latin characters like Russian, Czech, Japanese etc. are reported by the backup program as error code 2, file not found. Of course the Windows itself has no problem working with these files. Result is that these files will be ignored in backup rendering the program useless.

2) Security problems. You can anonymize the filenames but not directory names. This again is ridiculous given that directory name describes it's contents and renders anonymized filenames as useless feature.
