Hi

Just run a Page Rank report for the first time in Prof 6 and found unusual? page ranking.

http://safestsurfing.co.uk/ PR 0.15 InLink 0 OutLink 6
http://safestsurfing.co.uk/html/contact__faq.html PR 1.20 InLink 7 OutLink 6
http://safestsurfing.co.uk/html/fun__bo ... dware.html PR 1.21 InLink 7 OutLink 6
http://safestsurfing.co.uk/html/pc_utilities.html PR 1.21 InLink 7 OutLink 6
http://safestsurfing.co.uk/html/privacy__recovery.html PR 1.21 InLink 7 OutLink 6
http://safestsurfing.co.uk/html/web_software.html PR 1.20 InLink 7 OutLink 6
http://safestsurfing.co.uk/index.html PR 1.19 InLink 7 OutLink 6

What is the signifigance of the difference between .co.uk/ page rank and the .co.uk/index.html?
I want the maximum inward links for the .co.uk/ don't I?
I notice your own acebit.com has a huge number of links, where the index.html has many fewer.

Any help and advice appreciated.

Hello,

index.html is the default page name on your server, so for browsers the two links http://www.server.co.uk/ and http://www.server.co.uk/index.html are equivalent. About search engines robots we are not so sure, we believe that Google robot is intelligent enough to consider ‘/’ and ‘/index.html’ pages also as equivalent. However, we also think that it is better to use one form of URL through the entire site, therefore we list all variants of URLs found on your site just to give you an overview of all the links used on the site.

About the PR redistribution: the best strategy is to determine a few most important pages on the site and minimize the number of outbound links from these pages, and maximize the number of inbound links from all other pages. The important pages can link to each other; this would not affect their PR too much.

Best regards
