Seems i can right-click a remote file and edit it with the included editor.

does choosing the exit option cause the file to be saved at the same remote location? this is a bit unclear for me.

When you click "Edit with internal editor", the file is downloaded from the ftp server to a local temp directory; This local copy is edited. When you close the editor the file is NOT updated on the ftp server automatically.

If you have modified the local file and saved the changes, you are prompted whether you want to 'Upload file to remote server?' Only if you click 'Yes', the file will be actually updated on the server.
