Hello,

what do you mean exactly with "pressing the topbar button to start IE7" normaly the Top Bar button sets the program to Top Bar mode and does not start any browser..

Maybe I should explain to you the way the topbar works: :?
1. start pwd (Password Depot)
2. press the topbar button on the main menu
3. now you see a row of buttons
4 press the one that looks like a globe
5 this button is used to open a browser window with the browser that was previously selected under options
6 if a URL has been entered in the URL field in the properties of the password entry, the browser opens this URL
If you don't understand this, ask your boss to explain this to you.

Now back to the error:
If I press this 'button to start IE7' nothing happens. Only after 20-30 seconds a browser window sometimes opens, most of the time not.
I also discovered a workaround: if I press this button (i.e. the globe on the topbar  ) and then click on the desktop somewhere, the window opens immediately.
I hope this is now clear to Acebit Support. If not, do not hesitate to ask.
Meanwhile: GET THIS ERROR FIXED!!!!

Hello,

Of course we know ho the top bar works, but the top bar button is located in the main window and sets the program into top bar mode. The globe button is just not the top bar button, this was the problem here - maybe you should have posted your detailed list at your first posting, thanks a lot.
Now back to the error:
What operating system are you using? Are you working with admin rights or in a restricted user account?
What happens when you double click a password entry in the main window? Is the browser opening up here as fast as usual?

I have the same experience that Frank describes. Clicking on the globe on the top bar takes an extremely long time bringing up the website pointed to by the URL field in Password Depot. The website will come up immediately if you double click on the password entry in the main window. This is what I used to do, but thanks to Frank99's tip, I now click on the Globe, then immediately click on an empty spot on the desktop, at which point the website opens right away.

I am using XP Professional, SP2 with IE version 7.0.5630.11.

This started to happened after I upgraded Password Depot to version 3 build 3.0.2.0 from version 2 build 2.6.1.0. This delay does not happen with version 2, even when run on the exact same computer. I did not upgrade my version 2 copy on my USB storage key, so this was easy to test.

Thanks, and I hope you have enough information to go on. I'll be glad to supply any additional information you think might help.

Hi,
This is just to let you know that I upgraded to version 3.1 from 3.0.2. It made no difference as far as the problem under discussion was concerned.

Sorry,
Reed

Version 3.1.1 appears to have completely resolved the problem (at least on my computer). I'm not experiencing Frank's double click situation. One click is sufficient, and the website opens immediately.

Thanks,
Reed

I just installed the new version 3.1.2.0. The globe still does not consistently respond to being clicked.

Hello,

excuse us one question:

The globe does not consistently respond although you have entered a correct URL?

Thank you in advance!

Hello,

Yes, a correct URL is entered. I have the same problem as previously listed:

1. start Password Depot
2. press the topbar button on the main menu
3. now you see a row of buttons
4 press the one that looks like a globe
5 this button is used to open a browser window with the browser that was previously selected under options
6 if a URL has been entered in the URL field in the properties of the password entry, the browser opens this URL

The globe is "pushed" and nothing happens unless I click a number of times fast (sometimes 3 clicks is needed - sometimes much more).

I also have a second reproducible problem when Password Depot is in top bar mode: When I push the little arrow at the "Group" box to the left the program crashes.

Version 3.2.1.0 - IE 7.0.6000.16386 - Vista Ultimate

Installed 312, but that was a major setback!
Previously I had to wait some time before the 'globe' would react, now it only reacts at random! Sometimes not at all or after 15 clicks, sometimes after 1 click, very annoying.

Anybody know of a similar program without bugs?

EDIT: Even a 9 year old schoolkid can program a button to open a browser, why can't Acebit do this? If this persists, I'll return to version 2 and want my money back.

Hello,

excuse us but we cannot reproduce this error. If we use the "globe" button to open a website it works directly and correctly .

Did you maybe install some other software which makes this error occur?

This program is the ONLY program, that has this problem. I am NOT the only one with this problem.
I have XP SP2, IE7, and all MS updates.

Try to think of what might be wrong and FIX IT.

Just installed version 3.1.3.0. Now the globe is working again as it should! Thanks to the programmer(s) who fixed this.

I still have the completely reproducible error (at least on my computer)which crashes the program:

In topbar mode click the arrow to the right of the "Group:" box.

Now the text in the "Group:" box blinks frantically and the topbar "greys out" (a vista sign of a non responsive program). The CPU use is about 40% on my dual core system and I have to terminate the process "PasswordDepot.exe" through task manager.

Thanks for a great program which I'm sure will soon work perfectly under Vista as well!

Just to let you know that 313 solved the 'globe' issue.

Thanks for a great program!

Just upgraded to 3.1.5.0 hoping that the issue:

"The text in the "Group:" box blinks frantically and the topbar "greys out"" had been solved.

I still have that issue on my machine. In addition, the "Globe issue" is back. However an additional globe (with a yellow arrow) has been introduced. This one works just fine.

We apologize, but which two problems are still existing? As we read in the postings, the "group issue" and the "Globe issue" seemed to be fixed?

We like to point out, that the "normal globe" has now the function to copy and paste the entered url.

the "globe with the yellow arrow" has now the function to open the url and has a dropdown function to select the browser also.

regards

Sorry, I missed the change in Globe functionality - my mistake!

The other error mentioned which (at least on my computer) is 100% reproducible and which crashes the program:

In topbar mode click the small arrow to the right of the "Group:" box.

Now the text in the "Group:" box blinks frantically and the topbar "greys out" (a vista sign of a non responsive program). The CPU use is about 40% on my dual core system and I have to terminate the process "PasswordDepot.exe" through task manager.

Hello,

Alright, THIS problem has already been forwarded to the responsible product manager. Unfortunately we were not able to reproduce it here on our test computers yet, so we are not sure if the product manager or the developers can. We apologize for the trouble caused!

A re-install of Windows Vista solved the above mentioned problem. Pasword Depot 3.1.6.0 works like a charm again. Thanks! :D

Hello,

alright, since its now working and we could not reproduce it here, we assume this was a problem of some damaged system files or similar. Have you done a complete format of your system partition or only a repair-installation?

Hello,

I did a format and complete reinstall of Vista Ultimate from scratch.

Unfortunately, after having completed reinstallation of all my applications, the problem re-appeared. I simply can't figure out which program or driver causes the conflict. I have tried deinstalling a couple of programs, but can't figure it out.

Hello,

As we said before, we forwarded this problem to the responsible product manager. It's a pity that you cant figure out what 3rd party program is responsible for this behavior.
