Yesterday I upgraded from Wise-FTP 5 to the current version (updated again today, so I have the most current) - and I find that I've lost the playing of sounds at certain events. This is quite a nuisance.

I'm used to the fact that the program doesn't keep the sounds settings from a previous version, so every time I upgrade / update I have to re-set my chosen sounds - and indeed I've set those sounds for the current version - but still nothing plays, except when I test the sounds in the system sounds setting dialog. I thus know that there's nothing wrong about the sounds as such, and that they are correctly configured for the program - but still I get no sound for any Wise-FTP program events. I don't need program start / exit sounds, but sounds for connection, disconnection and completion of transfer are pretty important. Indeed, without the sounds in v.6 I may have to revert to v.5 until this issue in v.6 is fixed.

Please can somebody help here? Many thanks.

Hello,

which version of Wise-FTP 6 are you using exactly (Help -> About)? Which operating system are you using?

Best regards

Hello, Christiane.

I'm using:
Wise-FTP 6.0.2 (and prior to that, 6.0.1 had the same problem)
Windows Vista SP1, with all current updates

Incidentally, it would be really nice if future versions of the program took on the sounds settings (in Preferences) from the installed previous version when one updates / upgrades, without one having to set up the sounds at every program update.

I hope that helps...

Hello Philip,

I have now forwarded this problem to the responsible product manager so that this problem can be solved in an update.

I will also inform him about your request that the sound settings will be took on from installed previous versions.

Best regards

This is just to confirm that I've now installed v.6.03, and my chosen system sounds are now playing as they should - though once again I had to set up those sounds because their previous configuration hadn't been passed on to the upgrade installation.
