I installed Wise FTP yesterday and spent some time checking two tasks I set up in task planner. Although I did get the tasks working it never seemed to create a log file and did not send an email on completion. The tasks were set to repeat daily however today there are no tasks set up at all.

Hello,

which version of WISE FTP do you use? Please check this in the menu bar at "Help" -> "Info". Could you maybe send us a screenshot of your problem to support@acebit.com with a reference to this thread?

Thank you in advance!

Version is 5.5.0. I would send a screen shot but I don't know how to take a shot of it not doing something. I could take a shot of the task list with no tasks perhaps? Not very instructive though. As I say, it doesn't write a log file, doesn't send email and the tasks are lost when the system closes down.

Hello,

What operating system are you using exactly? Are you working with administrator rights or in a restricted user account? Please make sure the windows task planer service is up and running as well.

I am using Windows XP sp2 and I have full admin rights. What is 'windows task planer'? Do you mean Task Scheduler service - this is running. There doesn't seem to be a problem with the scheduled task within the day it is set up. It runs at the appointed time. However there is no log and no email sent. All task are lost on shut down.

As we don't know your settings for your tasks please try the following

  • set up a new task, select the ftp server profil you want to use and choose the desired action (for example download a file from the ftp server)
  • when you get to the step "Shedule Task" please make sure that you have selected "Always send email-notification" and that you have entered correct the correct email settings.
  • Please have a look at the tab "logging" in the E-Mail Settings. Please check the option "Save Log in the file" and fill in the path and filename where you want your logfile to be created.
  • Please also make sure that you have unchecked the option "Delete Task after successful completion" to prevent deleting the task after it has been successfully completed.

Does this solve your problem?

This is exactly what I have been doing for the last couple of days. I have tried locating the log in different places. I alwasy uncheck the delete option. I select always email.

The scheduled task runs at the correct time and is not deleted. However there is no log and no email. The task remains in the schedule as pending. However after closing my machine and restarting the task list is empty.

Do you think you can help me solve this or should I look elsewhere for FTP software?
