I've just successfully installed and registered WiseFTP ver2.1.3.x on Win NT4.0. I've configured connections to two separate servers running different flavours of Unix with correct user names and passwords. Unfortunately I am getting error
< 530 User nnnn@yyyyy cannot log in.
! Unable to connect to yyyyy! (530 User nnnn@yyyyy cannot log in.)
Sure enough if I try to ftp from the command line of NT to either of these, or from one to the other, using this User Name format I get this error, however if I use just the user name ie nnnn, then I can login successfully.
How do I tell WiseFTP to use just the user name and not the username server combination.
All machines are on a private LAN behind a firewall.

Hello,

Wise-FTP automatically forms the connection string when communicates with ftp servers. All you need is to properly set up required fields in the Site Manager:
1) Host name - IP address or server name;
2) Port - by default is 21 but maybe your servers use different ports ?
3) User name
4) Password

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately:-
1. I've tried both host name and IP address on two different servers and it makes no difference.
2. I have confirmed port 21 is correct from Services file and by using it in an ftp - open statement at the command line.
3/4. User name and password are both correct and double checked

However I realised I had the 'Use global proxy configuration' box ticked. I have unchecked it (left the proxy details blank as well) and all is well, I can connect.
Obviously as all the machines are inside the firewall I do not need proxy details.
