I have two paths which have colons as part of their name, but since it's an illegal character I can't create the same folder name under Windows XP.

Is there currently a method in v5.5.2 to handle/transform symbols in file and path names which are not supported by Windows?

It doesn't appear that Wise-FTP is aware of the invalid symbols as it attempts to download from those paths, but fails (until limit of retries).

Thanks.

Hello,

Colons in path or filenames are very uncommon and not recommended. Unfortunately WiseFTP can not transform these characters to characters which can be handled by windows. Is there a certain reason why you have those kind of paths on your ftp server?

Hi Mirko,

I'm using wget (GNU Wget 1.8.1) on Apache/1.3.33 (Unix) to mirror some stats files from some 30+ web sites and currently two of the servers don't use port 80, wget adds a colon and port number as part of the path name. It's also creates files with question marks, ?, when it gets urls with php scripts. I'm sure there are a few other symbols it will use, but I haven't seen them yet.

So that's a no on the remapping of bad symbols, but what about the repeated attempts to download the folders/files with these bad symbols. Should Wise-FTP be checking for invalid symbols for Windows file names, \ / : * " ? < > |, before it attempts to download these files?

Thanks

Hello,

Thanks for the information about the "why". We already fowarded your suggestions to the responsible product manager so this can be added as feature in one of the next versions. Thanks again for your help!
