I have a uninstalled the software and removed all references to it. I also ran Registry First Aid which also removed a whole bunch of registry keys that were left behind.

Now I have re-installed the program again but it never asked me to unlock or for registration information and when i look at Help>About I see in the top right corner
Licensed to: Registrered

Is the program really registered or not? I expected it to ask for my registartion information again, so I m a bit confused now.

Added to this question. Is the DEP setting still necessary or did you already modify the program?
Quote:
After installing SP2 on Windows XP I cannot start my program at all. What might be the reason for this?
The reason probably is that the Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is activated on your machine and does not allow to execute the program. All our programs use anti-hacking protection technologies which cause the DEP to block the execution of these programs.
We will modify our programs so that the next versions will be compatible with DEP.
As workaround in the meantime we recommend the following:
1.) Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel and select System.
2.) On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.
3.) On the Data Execution Prevention tab, select Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select and add Password Depot to the list of programs.

Regards,

Martin

Hi Martin,

Password Depot creates after unlocking a file called "PasswordDepot.key". If this file was not deleted during uninstallation the program will be activated again after installing Password Depot. So if this file still exists your program is still activated.

Kind Regards

Where does it create this file? Because if it creates it in the application data or something as simple as in the Program Files it shouldn't be there anymore. I deleted all Acebit folders.

Hello Martin,

this file is created at "C:\Program files\Acebit\Password Depot 3". Do you maybe have any special version or did you download it from our homepage?

Regarding to your question to the DEP: The latest version of Password Depot does not have DEP problems.

Kind Regards
Marco

I just downloaded it from the homepage.

I will go through the whole process once again and see where it leads me. I'll be back:-)

I am as far as I was. I uninstalled the program and installed it again but it still says Licensed to: Registered. It should state in stead of Registered my e-mail address.

So the question remains: is it still truly registered?

Hello Martin,

when "Licenced to: Registered" is shown at Help -> About, the program is activated and you can use it without any restrictions.

Did you delete the key file after uninstallation and Password Depot is still registered after the new installation?

Best regards

I deleted ever reference to password depot I could find including the key.

But as long as it is registered I am not to bothered by this, I was just wondering if it really was registered :) .

Martin
