I hope English is OK in this forum - Ich verstehe nur klein Deutsch.

I downloaded a version of Wise-FTP from my web host (1and1). It's supposed to be the full-version, but it does not require a registration key. Version 3.0.0.7.

I selected the File/Live Update... option on the menu, and it did the update; however the new version wants a registration key. It says it's expired already (I assume because I had an eval version before).

It also won't uninstall, so I can go back to the 1and1 version.

Any suggestions?

Please download the current version of WISE-FTP 3.1 (1&1 edition) here:

http://212.227.222.247/service1u1/wiseftp3.exe

This file will update your existing installation to 3.1 (no previous uninstall is required)

This seems to be older than the version you can download manually from the download/Previous Version menu on the website so will not install.

File/Live Update will not download the version on the website so I manually downloaded it and now About shows version 3.1.1. The above version is only version 3.1.0.

Can I update the 1&1 version I have to version 5 or do I have to buy version 5 outright? Help/ABOUT shows version 3.1.1 but also unregistered trial version?

What would I pay $19.95 or $49.00?

Hello,

The most current version for 1&1 customers is only 3.1.0, not 3.1.1. If you install the version from our website, you can not unlock it, because you dont have the needed unlock code. The 1&1 version only needs a activation key, which can be requested during the procedure for free.
If you already got the 1&1 version, you dont need to pay the full $49.00 for version 5, the $19.95 upgrade is just fine.

Do I install version 5 over version 3, so that means downgrading to 3.1.0 and applying for an activation key? Is there a way to update to version 5 without having any version of Wise FTP on the system. I prefer a clean install?

Hello,

You can install WiseFTP 5 on a clean system without any problems. WiseFTP 3 must not be installed before. Just download the installation file for version 5 and execute it.

But how does it know it's priced as an update? My version 3.1.1 doesn't have any information to show I am entitled to an update. Have 1&1 given you a list of their customers or do you check 1&1 to see if people are entitled to an update after the purchase?

Thank You, I've just upgraded and it was very easy although the instructions were incorrect...

2) Start the program and click HELP/REGISTER. ??? There is no HELP/REGISTER :)

I think you mean Help/Purchase.
