I had version 4 for a while and now bought the upgrade to version 6. But now I cannot find my unlock code for version 4 anymore, is it really necessary that I install version 4 first and then version 6?

it is not necessary to install version 4 first and after this version 6. You can just download version 6 from our homepage and unlock it using an activation key (can be requested during the unlock process) and an unlock code which you received after ordering version 6.
