I was using WISE from 1&1 and everything was ok.
I upgraded to the latest version yesterday and installed and activated it.

Now everytime I boot up the computer now I get a dialog pop-up with the "wf_tp.exe has stopped working" error message.

I tried un-installing V3 but the message still appears.
Using Vista Ultimate 32bit.

The error message does not seem to stop WISE from working but it's very annoying. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

What version of WiseFTP are you using exactly at the moment? (See "Help" -> "About"). Are you working with the WiseFTP Task Planner? If not , you can just disable the autostart at windows startup and the message will disappear.

Hi,

I'm using V.5.5.3
I'm not using the Task Planner. Where can I disable the autostart - I can't find it :?

Tried un-install and re-install but still not working.

I think there should be an icon in the taskbar near the clock where I could disable the autostart ? Well it's not there, looks like it's not getting loaded because I get the error message as soon as I re-boot.

Tried starting the Task Planner from the Start Menu but get the same error message "wf_tp.exe has stopped working".

Also, sometimes after boot-up I get this error too..
"Application Error
Exception EOLeSysError in module wf_tp.exe at 0007EE29.
Error accessing the OLE registry"

I hope you can help me soon.

If you want get rid of this error messages, please run the task planer at least 1 time when you are logged in as administrator.

That is how Automation Servers work, they must update every time registry keys, which is not allowed by default on Vista. If you run the program one time as administrator it will create the required keys in registry and not fail next time, when it runs under limited account.

If you want to disable the Task Planer, you can proceed as follows:

Option 1) Open the task-planer options and uncheck 'Run automatically at windows start'

Option 2) Run the install script again, select “Modify program features” and uncheck Task Planer. this will remove the task planer

The problem is I cannot run it at all - not even once because the error message comes up.
And I am the Administartor - I don't have any limited accounts.

For now I have used Option 2 and removed the Task Planner which seems to have stopped the error message.
If I need to use the Task Planner in the future though it won't work so I would still like to know how to fix the problem.

Hello,

Under Windows Vista, even the administrator is restricted by default and has to enter his admin password when he wants to use several functions. We suggest, that you have a look in the installation directory of WiseFTP 5 - normally this is "C:\Program Files\AceBit\WISE-FTP 5" . Right click the file "wf_tp.exe" ,select run as administrator and enter your password. If you run the program one time as administrator it will create the required keys in registry and not fail next time, when it runs under a limited account.

Thanks Mirko, that has fixed the problem.

Maybe you should have some Vista install instructions because this might cause problems for more people in the future.

Thanks again.
