Hey,

Can't connect, blah, blah...

I receive the error: Winsock error # 10053. I'm unable to find much information about this error.

I've checked the 'services' and 'protocols' files in the Drivers dir...they seem to be fine.

I'm running WinXP SP2, host is 1&1. I *think* I've been having this problem intermittently since upgrading to SP2, but I cannot be certain.

To make things even MORE confusing, I was able to connect yesterday, but the upload was very slow. No settings have been changed (at least not by me!), and have been using WiseFTP to update a site on 1&1 for 6 months. Suddenly, I'm unable to connect. Rebooting does nothing - same error...today that is. Yesterday, as stated, I was able to connect. So, this problem is random, and doesn't seem to be with my configuration. But, what do I know

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Hello,

Yes, most probably the problem is caused by changes in the system configuration after installing XP SP2. If you are using the Windows Firewall please try to disable the firewall and test Wise-FTP while the firewall is disabled. See http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/usin ... tings.mspx for instructions how to switch the firewall off.

Best regards

Brilliant! Shutting down the Windows Firewall actually worked! Many thanks!

One question: placing WiseFTP into the Windows Firewall exclusions doesn't solve this problem, does it?

Anywho...muchas gracias! Really appreciate the help!
