I'm trying to use Wise to FTP information from my dedicated server to my backup server . Both are hosted at 1and1.

I am able to transfer smaller files, but larger files, such as backup sets dont transfer. Often I get to 100% and then it starts counting backwards and the files are erased.

I have tried PASV with no different results.

Any suggestions? FTP using Internet Explore does not work.

Having had the EXACT same problem as you, I sent an email to 1and1 and after a lot of emails with them we determined that my router is somehow blocking them (only them btw). So, I sent another email to them asking if this issue could be looked at, and even sent the link for this forum to them so they could look at all the problems people are having, and at the end, this is what their reply came down to:

"I have gone through the link you have sent us. Yes it is true there are
few customers, having same problem. It has got nothing to do with the
1and1 server. i would suggest you to please make sure you do enable FTP
port on your network. It is just a firewall on your network causing
problem and do not allow you to get into our server in terms of FTP.
Please note all the network routers, they almost do come with hardware
firewall as well so please sort this out your hardware vendor.
Our servers do not need any special settings to use FTp, just FTP port
on your network/ computer must be enabled.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

no ftp clients work for them btw, no matter how many I tried

Well, the thing that is missing here is that I am doing all of this within the 1and1 network - from a server that I rent from them to a backup server that is included in their plan.

So, if its a router - its their router that is the problem.

Said another way, it aint the router.!

As you suggested in an email, I tried version 5 which handles larger file sizes.

I started the backup of a 7 GB file over an hour ago. Its on the web server with a direct lan link to the backup server, yet it is only giving me 75-77kb throughput.

So at this rate, in about 12 more hours I can tell you if it worked.

Is that a limitation of the trial version, or a setting? My old Wise FTP-3 was super fast right out of the box on the same servers, same connections etc.

Hello,

There is no speedlimit in the trial version of WiseFTP. How are you doing the server2server transfer exactly? What kind of connection to the internet do you have?
