I recently acquired a copy of wise FTP version 3 from 1and1.com, and have been having a number of problems. I am running windows XP pro.
When I tried to enter activation code, I get an error message in German, although the version which I am using is an English language version (everything except the error messages are English) :
"wiseftp.ini kann nich geschrieben werden" and "dateizugriff verweigert".

This sounded to me that it was unable to write, so I guessed that perhaps you must have admin privileges to activate the software.
I logged on as administrator and was able to activate the software.

However, when I go back to my user account, it still asks me to activate the software. Is activation only good for a single windows account?

Also, Is there a setting which will allow me to get future error messages in English?

I am also unable to locate existing directories under my web account, but this is probably a problem on the server so I will check with them first regarding this.

Thank you.

Hello,

which version of WISE FTP 3 do you use exactly?

We recommend to create the whole directory under the Admin account C:\Program Files\AceBIT\Wise-FTP. So it is writeable even for restricted users because all configuration data (including activation key) are stored in this directory. After activation the program under Admin account please run the Update Manager (File -> Live Update...) to install the most current version of the programme.

Does this solve your problem?

The installed version of Wise FTP was 3.0.2.2 ; The program was installed using the admin account into C:\Program Files\AceBIT\Wise-FTP directory, after which I unsuccessfully attempted to activate it in my user account and then activated it successfully via the admin account -- but still cannot run it in user account (it continues to request activation, but the activation continues to fail).

I was able to upload some files to my website yesterday using the admiun account.

However, I went back into the Admin account later, and Wise FTP is again prompting for activation.

I re-activated it, and then upgraded the version as specified in your email.

New version is now 3.1.0.0.

It is working OK in admin account, however, if I try to run it on my regular user account it continues to request activation, which continues to fail.

And the error messages are still in German.

The text of the message is now slightly different:

"In C:\Program Files\acedit\wise-ftp
Kann nicht geschinieber werden (sorry, I may have misspelled that)

Please advise.

Hello,

Please give your restricted user temporary admin-rights. Login with the restricted user (now member of administator group) and do the activation. After that you can delete the user from admin group to make him restricted again.
