I am using Wise ftp version 3.0,3.0.0.7 and have Vista Home Premium OS. When I log into my user account I get an error message 'stream read error' and it seems to be from the scheduler. I am the admin of this computer and have installed the software using admin privileges.

The scheduler seems to also be a problem for other users on the same computer. When they log off of their accounts, they get 2 messages: "Access violation at address 004046EC in Module 'WF_Scheduler.exe'. Write of address 00000000C" and "Access violation at address 004CA8EI in module 'WF_Scheduler.exe', Read of address 00000004."

I have tried to do a live update but get an "Unable to write to C:\Program Files\AceBIT\WISE-FTP\verinfo.inf" This may be a second seperate concern as I had even tried turning off my firewall at the time and it wouldn't work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

MrBob38

Hello,

Sorry for the late reply.

This might indeed be a problem with an out-dated version of Wise-FTP - did you get the program from one of our partners like 1&1 or did you order it from our homepage? In the second case, you can download the latest version 3 (3.1.1) from our homepage: http://www.wise-ftp.com/download/previous.htm and unlock it with your unlock key, if this should be necessary. If you got it from one of our partners, we would ask you to write an email to our support to get the latest version: support@acebit.com.

Best regards

Thanks for the reply. I did get the software from 1&1 but I did find the problem. I found in one of your forums that you have to turn off the "Protected Mode" for the browser. I tried this and the files downloaded without a problem.

thanks katrin

I'm back. . . Where have I heard that before?? Anyway, It seems there is still a problem with the scheduler. I have 3 other users on the computer and they are always getting error messages when they log off. IT seems the scheduler is in the taskbar and you have to acknowledge the problem before it lets you off.

When I open the options and try to deselect the "run at windows startup" box, I get the error message - access violation at address 004046EC in Module 'WF_Scheduler.exe' Write of address 0000000C.

As the user tries to log off the message "This program is preventing you from logging off" appears. I am currently using Version 3.0.0.7,3.0.0.7 which I downloaded from 1&1 and I believe it is the most current one availible

I've sent two emails over the course of the last two months (Sept 20th and Oct 2nd) and have yet to recieve a reply from your support department, so I thought I would post my email in this thread since I seem to be experiencing the same problem...

Hello,

I have 1and1 as my hosting and downloaded Wise FTP via the download panel. I am running Version 3.0, 3.0.0.7

I am running Vista Premium and was having a problem with an error message every time I startup my computer, "Stream Read Error". So then I see that Wise FTP Scheduler is running on startup in the taskbar. But when I go to the options menu and click the box so that it does NOT run on startup, it gives me the following error screen once I click ok, (I attached a pic of the popup window to this email).

I searched Google for help and found a thread on your support forum that recommended emailing you guys for a fix for this problem.

Thanks for the help!

-Edgar

Hello Edgar,

We are sorry that something went wrong with the e-mail communication.

I will send you a PM in a few minutes about your problem, maybe you could give me your e-mail address in return, so that I can check what happened to your inquiries by email.

Best regards

I too have run into the dreaded "Stream read error". Yes, I installed vs.3 from 1and1. I can't reach the live update either, as an error: "Unable to write to C:\Program Files\AceBit\Wise-FTP\verinfo.inf" keeps popping up.

Thanks!
