Hi,
I have been using WISE-FTP for weeks but for the last few days i cannot logon to my server/website.

I tried uninstalling then reinstalling WISE but no luck.
I have had a couple of different error codes...

The first and most frequent was... "500 Connection timed out Winsock error #10060"

Then... Connection aborted (Winsock error #10053)

Now... /* Winsock Error #10053:
WSAECONNABORTED - Software caused connection abort. An established connection was aborted due to a data transmission time-out or protocol error. The time-out was possibly caused by a Firewall program. */


I only have windows firewall, which is turned off...
Cannot understand.
I have another program...ACE FTP that lets me logon with no problem but i prefer WISE-FTP.
Any ideas what could be causing my problem?

Hello,

first we would ask you to use the IP address of the server instead of the host name. And you could also try to connect with passive mode on or off.

I have tried all those options with no luck, i am completly baffled.

! Unable to connect: digital-manchester.com! (500 Connection timed out (Winsock error #10060))
Just can't understand how one program will let me connect but WISE won't?

Hello,

there are many reasons why you receive this error message. It seems that anything on your system prevents Wise-FTP from connecting to the internet using port 21. Please check your firewall and other security software that they do not block Wise-FTP.

I did mention i only have Windows firewall (switched off)

It was working fine up to a few day's ago, i just wish i could get it back.

Hello,

do you maybe have any other server where you can test to connect to? Does it work there? You could for example create a new server profile and enter as host name "ftp.microsoft.com", as user name "anonymous" and as password "email@email.com". Are you able to connect then?

I never give it a thought to try to connect to a different site!!

I tried a couple of the listed commom servers and there was no problem??
Still baffled lol.
