Wise FTP5 error

Post by Cruz » March 18th, 2013, 12:20 pm

I dont seem to be connecting anymore.

When I create a new site ... I get the following error
"FTP server address not valid
Connection Canceled"

When I try to update ...
"Error message: Connection timed out (Error #10060)"
"Error code: 404"

I installed & re-installed WiseFTP5.5.2 but same happening. (the installationwas not in english so I'm not sure what I've done.)

Hi Cruz,

you mentioned that you are using WISE-FTP 5.5.2. However, the software's perfect functioning can generally only be guaranteed if the latest program version is used. At the moment, the latest edition of WISE-FTP is version 7, which can be purchased here:

http://www.wise-ftp.com/order.htm

If you do not want to upgrade to version 7, we would recommend to at least update to the latest build of the version you are using, namely WISE-FTP 5.5.9. In order to update to this build, please either use the update manager within WISE-FTP or download build 5.5.9 from our website:

http://www.wise-ftp.com/download/previous.htm

If the upgrade/update does not solve your problem, please do not hesitate to contact us again!

as I said the update is refusing.. It was 5.5.8 until I uninstalled & re-installed.
Besides getting version7 I have no funds to do so right now or I would. I have used the software for about 4 years - getting grips with it just recently. Excellent product I have been looking at the other products. maybe soon.

Hi Cruz,

The error message „Connection timed out (Error #10060)” generally indicates a firewall problem. For this reason, please try to establish a connection while your firewall is temporarily disabled.

It also makes sense to use a real IP address instead of the server address. In order to find out your server’s IP address, please run cmd.exe and then execute ping <yourserver.com> in the command window. Afterwards, you will see the IP address and will be able to check whether the name you used is indeed correct.

Finally, as a general note: If your Update Manager does not work, you can also update WISE-FTP manually, by downloading build 5.5.9 for free from our website:

http://www.wise-ftp.com/download/previous.htm.

Having downloaded the latest build of version 5, you will be able to activate it by using the unlock code you received when you purchased WISE-FTP 5.
