PSWD7: How to Delete old file location references

When I open PWD7 and go to the "File" tab it lists references to old passlist file locations, that no longer exist. How do I delete them?

PSWD7 was smart enough to find these old locations, even though the files were deleted long before PSWD7 was installed.

I believe PSWD4 saved those locations somehow, somewhere, but do not know where to start to get rid of the references in PSWD7.

PSWD4 probably should have been deleted prior to installing version 7, but it felt safer to wait and avoid loss of the precious data file.

I want to delete these "not existent locations" (under the file tab) but PSWD7 will not let me. This is just a clean-up to avoid confusion later...

Thanks in advance,
MichiganMarty

Hi michiganmarty,

may we just ask back: On the one hand, you wrote that "the files [from Password Depot 4] were deleted long before PSWD7 was installed" - on the other hand, that "PSWD4 probably should have been deleted prior to installing version 7".

Does this mean you deleted the password files you had created with Password Depot 4, then installed Password Depot 7 and then finally deleted Password Depot 4?

Ah, I see the reason for the confusion.
Okay, during the course of using PSWD4, I had moved the .psw file around on my network to locations other than the default location. When I finally found a spot for it to reside, it stayed that way for a long time. All of the files in the other locations (drives, folders) were deleted via windows file manager. Somehow, PSWD4 remembered those old locations anyway and the new PSWD7 installation picked them up (even though the files did not exist there).

All that said, I found a way to get rid of them, but I can't elaborate how I did it right now.

Thanks for the response,
MichiganMarty

Hi michiganmarty,

We are happy to hear that you have found a way to get rid of the non-existing files!

Otherwise, we would have suggested that you use the button "Delete Invalid Paths" within Password Depot. The program is able to automatically detect if files are no longer available at their original path. If you would like to remove such files from your list, you simply need to click on the "Delete Invalid Paths" button.

Yes, I tried this "Delete Invalid Paths" button many times with no luck. And now I wish I could remember how I did it!
