Reinstall fails

Post by stefan.lloyd » October 8th, 2012, 11:06 am

I installed Acebackup on Windows Server 2003 under one userid, experienced errors running it under another userid and decided to uninstall and reinstall it. However reinstall fails as follows.

I have tried rebooting, I have tried clearing any remaining registry entries for Acebit, I have tried following Microsoft's advice for resolving 0x80070002 errors (which seems to be to do with Windows Update). Nothing has worked. Any ideas please?

Hello stefan.lloyd!

Your problem is not a Microsoft bug but the fact that there are old versions of InstallShield libraries on your computer. In most of cases, the problem is fixed if you delete all 7.* and 9.* folders from your directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\RunTime\ and then run our installer again.
Best regards,

I'm running into the same issue. I've checked for previous versions and have renamed and let it recreate version 10 with no luck.

I find that I can grab the extracted files out of the temporary directory and the setup runs - but it is missing data2.cab.

The system is a windows server 2003 with sp2.

Thanks
Dave
