Backup to two volumes?

Post by mjc » January 18th, 2013, 5:28 pm

Hi all,

I am using AceBackup to back up to two USB hard drives, for offsite backup. The two drives are kept offsite, and they are brought in on alternate days (so that one drive is always offsite).

I'm not sure if I should set the two volumes to Synchronized or Independent. I would like to run it like:

Monday: back up to hard drive A (hard drive B remains offsite all day)
Tuesday: back up to hard drive B (hard drive A remains offsite all day)
Wednesday: back up to hard drive A (hard drive B remains offsite all day)
Thursday: back up to hard drive B (hard drive A remains offsite all day)
and so on...

Only one drive is attached at a time; I would like to have full copies of everything on both drives (except that there will be a 1 day difference between the two drives).

What is the correct way to set the volumes up?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

it's not generally possible to handle several volumes if they are not connected simultaneously, sorry!
