Offline synchronisation

Post by Dan_BP » May 4th, 2012, 10:35 am

Hello,

I just wanted to clarify if the server module was capable of allowing end users to cache passwords locally for offline use? The scenario I have in mind involves users travelling offsite with their laptops requiring access to the password database. Would any changes they make be sychronised upon their return to the office?

Thank you.

Hello Dan,

the administrator of Password Depot Server can define this in the policies. If he enables this feature, a user can save a password file locally and then synchronize it later, once he is connected to the server again.

Thanks for responding. Does this occur seamlessly or does the user have to save a copy of the database each time they want to update their offline copy to go out of office?

I am considering password depot for use in a small IT support business so people will be connecting and disconnecting from the office network many times throughout the day. If a manual process must be performed on each occasion, I'm concerned it would become complicated and error-prone.

Hello Dan,

Sorry for the late reply!

The creation of the local copy is a one-click action. What would be a little more time-consuming would be the synchronization, which is ONLY required if they make changes while they are out of office.
